K&K Automotive & Diesel Repair sits on South State Street in Salina, Utah, where I-70 meets US-89. It is a general shop in the true sense: class 8 tractors and trailers, cars and pickups, motorhomes and travel trailers, and farm and ranch equipment. Tires, welding, inspections and drivetrain work all happen in the same building, and the wreckers that go out to recover a unit belong to the same business that repairs it.
That last part is the whole model. On this stretch of road the usual arrangement, one company tows you, another one fixes it, and you wait on both, costs a driver a day they cannot spare. Doing both means one call, one crew, one invoice.
